Privacy policy
Private Event Allowance is installed by a Shopify merchant to run private, points-based events on their store. This page describes what data the app collects, how it’s used, and how to request access to or deletion of it.
What we collect
- From the merchant: event configuration (name, handle, private access code, point allowance, and dollar-per-point value), and which products and which of the merchant’s customers are assigned to each event.
- From customers: email address and Shopify customer ID, associated with the point allowance and usage for events they participate in. We do not collect payment details, browsing history, or anything beyond what’s needed to track event point usage.
How we use it
- To calculate whether a purchase is covered by a customer’s event allowance, and the discount applied at checkout.
- To keep each event’s product point values, customer allowances, and access code in sync with the merchant’s Shopify store via metafields, so the storefront can display and enforce them.
Where it’s stored
Event and point-accounting records are stored in our application database, scoped to the merchant’s store. Point values and allowances are also stored as Shopify metafields on the relevant products, customers, and shop, so they’re visible to the merchant in Shopify Admin.
Retention and deletion
- If a merchant uninstalls the app, all of that shop’s event data is deleted automatically within 48 hours.
- If a customer requests their data or its deletion, contact the merchant directly, or use the contact below. We act on Shopify’s mandatory customer data request, customer redaction, and shop redaction webhooks as required by Shopify’s Partner Program Agreement.
